Finished in 2023, Strength tells the story of a warrior who has survived every battle set before her. Inspired by my own one-year remission from leukemia, she carries visible wounds and unseen ones—the tears of hardship, fear, and the realization that life after survival is never the same. I began this painting while I was still in treatment, working on her only on the days I had the strength to do so, making her creation a part of my own healing. Her broken crown and ripped fan aren’t signs of defeat, but proof of endurance. This painting is a reminder that even cracked armor can protect a courageous heart.
